Near the end of last year I was lucky enough to be contacted by a very nervous sounding Peter from Rainham Kent. As we got chatting he asked if I would be interested in doing a couples photo shoot with his girlfriend Danni, but this would be a couples portrait session with a twist!
As we got chatting Peter mentioned that he wanted to propose to Danni who is in the The Band of the Corps of Royal Engineers, based in Chatham, Kent. He wanted the proposal to be a little different from whisking her away to a European city & thought the that photoshoot would be the perfect choice not only to record the moment, but so people would believe him! I was thrilled to have been chosen to capture this special moment, I can tell you.
We decided to scheduled the session in the studio as the weather had been so bad, but left it open should the weather improve we would venture outside & over the coming weeks after many emails in secrecy going backwards and forwards, a plan had been set.
The session was conducted just like any other couples portrait session, capturing multiple poses, individual portraits, changes of background & outfits, with Danni still none the wiser. I then decided when was the right time once they were both comfortable with me & the surroundings. So I set up the shot ready to capture the moment, jokingly I mentioned to Peter to go down on one knee for a fun shot, which got them both laughing.
Then I gave Peter the nod & I moved back..........
The face says it all, a priceless moment, I couldn't resist just after having a little joke & saying "can I have my prop back now"
I feel so privileged to have been fortunate enough to have played a small part in an extra special moment in Peter & Danni's new life together. Good luck in planning your extra special day guys!
If you would like to book your own Kent couples portrait session please get in touch, sessions start from only £40. But please don't spring another proposal on me, I don't know if my nerves can take it!
