Yes you are seeing correctly, I was lucky enough to attend the penultimate show in the 2014 Strictly Come Dancing live tour at The O2 Arena yesterday. I say lucky enough very loosely as it was actually my wife's birthday present & I was almost dragged along kicking & screaming in protest lol.
I apologise for the quality of the images, the venue has strict policies on equipment allowed into the venue. I grabbed my trusty point & pray Fuji EXP300 compact camera, which really does struggle in low light conditions, but any record is better than none. It is still capable of capturing memories none the less.
As you can see we had an excellent view of the stage, for those of you unfamiliar with The O2 area we were seated in row H in bock 102. Having been previously to the venue to see Lady Gaga & Take That high up in the gods & since seeing Disney on Ice & Usher on the lower level, I never plan on returning to the high seats, anyone scared of heights would have a panic attack!
The show was hosted by Lisa Riley, who did a fantastic job & it followed the format of the tv shows closely with judges scoring Seerrrvvvvveeeeen! the audience voting by text for the winner. Lots of gags & audience participation much like a pantomime with Craig Revel Horwood with his cutting comments, which were brilliant by the way.
In my opinion what also makes the show is the brilliant musicians and singers, you really do forget that they are also performing at the same time, they are that good that it could be a pre recorded.
Having been dreading the show for a number of weeks I actually came away thoroughly enjoying it. I am sure I will be slated by all of my friends, but hey it was great fun. It is always more pleasing when that happens.
Highlights were Lisa Riley chest bumping Mark Benton & saying "Come here my brother from a different Mother" & Mark Benton returning to Craig Revel Horwood after being slated to his "Cant touch this number" which the crowd loved saying "its times like these when I wished that I was a pigeon & you were a statue Craig!". Craig tried to keep a straight face but couldn't contain the laughter, a priceless moment.
Will we be going back in 2015? quite possibly & I urge anyone with an interest in Strictly to do the same thing, you will not be disappointed, I promise.
Fab-u-LOUS! & Natalie Gumede I've made up my mind - she was the best
